Fitment & batteries

Which tool batteries does it run on?

Milwaukee M18, DeWalt 20V MAX and Makita 18V LXT. You pick your platform when you order and the kit ships with the matching battery adaptor. It runs off the same packs already in your truck — nothing extra to charge, no proprietary power brick.

My batteries are a different brand. Am I out of luck?

For now, yes — we build adaptors for the three platforms above because that's what the overwhelming majority of US contractors carry. If you run Ryobi, Bosch, Metabo HPT or something else, email us and tell us which. We track every request and it's how we decide what to build next.

Will it fit my truck cap / topper / service body / trailer / van?

Almost certainly. The light bar is a slim 300mm strip that mounts flat against any surface — truck cap ceilings, canopy roofs, tool box lids, trailer walls, van bulkheads, job boxes. If there's a flat run of a foot or so and a place to sit the battery, it fits. It isn't vehicle-specific, so there's no compatibility chart to check.

Do third-party or aftermarket batteries work?

Usually, as long as they're genuinely the right platform and physically standard. Cheap clone packs vary a lot in tolerances and protection circuitry, and some won't seat properly in the adaptor. We can only guarantee behaviour with genuine packs.

Are you affiliated with Milwaukee, DeWalt or Makita?

No. We're completely independent. Those brand names appear on our site purely to tell you which batteries fit — no affiliation, sponsorship or endorsement is implied, and all trademarks belong to their respective owners.

Install

Do I have to drill anything or cut into my wiring?

No. That's the entire point. It mounts with heavy-duty 3M adhesive and the included cable ties, and it powers off a tool battery — so there's no drilling, no splicing into your vehicle loom, no auto electrician, and nothing that'll upset a lease or resale.

How long does it actually take?

About two minutes. Clean the surface, peel the tape, press the strip on, run the cable, clip the adaptor to a battery. No tools required beyond your own hands.

What's in the box?

The LED strip, the battery adaptor for your chosen platform, the power transformer, connecting cabling, 3M mounting tape and cable ties. It's a complete kit — open it, stick it in, clip a battery on.

Can I run more than one, or move it later?

Plenty of people run one per compartment — a second kit is fully independent, so there's no wiring them together. Moving one is just a matter of peeling it off and applying fresh tape; the strip itself isn't damaged by removal.

Can I shorten or extend the strip?

Don't cut it. The strip is a sealed unit and cutting it breaks both the weather sealing and the circuit — and it voids your warranty. If your run needs a different length, contact us before you buy and we'll tell you honestly whether we've got something that suits.

Brightness & power

How bright is it, really?

900 lumens across a 300mm bar. In practical terms that floods an entire truck cap or tool box with even light — no hotspot in the middle and black corners at the edges, which is the usual failing of a single work lamp or a phone torch.

How long does it run on one battery?

6+ hours — a full shift — on a typical pack. Bigger amp-hour batteries run proportionally longer. Because it's drawing from a tool battery rather than your vehicle, a long night doesn't cost you a start in the morning.

Will it drain my truck's starter battery?

It can't — it never touches your vehicle's electrical system. It runs exclusively off the tool battery you clip to it. Worst case you flatten a tool pack, and you've got a charger for that.

Will it flatten my tool battery if I forget to unclip it?

Switch it off and it stops drawing. If you leave it on overnight you'll find a flat pack in the morning, same as any battery-powered light — so get in the habit of the switch, or pull the battery when you knock off.

Can I use it while driving?

It's designed for a stationary vehicle you're working out of. Don't run it in a way that shines into the cabin, distracts you, or is visible to other road users while moving — that's both unsafe and, in a lot of places, illegal. Mount it inside the canopy or box where it belongs and switch it off before you drive.

Durability

Is it actually weatherproof, or just "water resistant"?

It's IP66 rated — sealed against dust completely, and against powerful water jets from any direction. Rain, washdowns, dust and jobsite grime are all fine. IP66 is not a submersion rating, so don't sink it in a creek.

Will the adhesive let go in heat or cold?

It's heavy-duty 3M automotive-grade tape, and the cable ties are there as mechanical backup. The one thing that genuinely causes failures is a dirty surface — degrease and dry the mounting area properly before you stick it down and it stays put.

Will it survive corrugations and rough roads?

There's no filament and no glass — it's LEDs on a solid strip, so vibration has very little to attack. It's built for vehicles that get worked, not garage queens.

Isn't a visible light bar just advertising my tools to thieves?

It mounts inside your canopy, cap or box, so it's not visible with the doors shut, and it's dark when it's off. The battery unclips in a second if you'd rather not leave one in the vehicle overnight.

Shipping

What does shipping cost and how long does it take?

Flat $12 per order anywhere in the US, no matter how many kits you buy. We process within 1–2 business days and standard delivery typically lands 3–7 business days after dispatch. Full detail in our shipping policy.

Do you ship outside the United States?

Not right now — we ship within the US only, all 50 states. If you're elsewhere, get on the list and we'll tell you the day that changes.

Where's my order? I haven't got tracking.

Tracking is emailed the moment your order ships, and can take up to 48 hours to go live on the carrier's system. If it hasn't updated after 5 business days, email support@lumolux.store with your order number and we'll chase the carrier ourselves.

It arrived damaged. Now what?

Keep the packaging, photograph the item and the outer box, and email us within 7 days of delivery. Replacement or full refund, your call. You won't be asked to jump through hoops.

Returns & warranty

What if I hate it?

Send it back within 30 days of delivery for a full refund. It needs to come back in the condition you got it, with all the bits. Email support@lumolux.store first so we can give you a return address — returns that turn up unannounced can't be processed.

Who pays return shipping?

If it arrived faulty, damaged, or we sent the wrong thing, we do. If you've simply changed your mind, that one's on you — use a tracked service, because we can't refund a parcel that never arrives.

I've already stuck it to my canopy. Can I still return it?

Talk to us. Fitting it is the only way to know if it's right, so we're not going to punish you for testing it — but something modified, cut, or wrecked through incorrect wiring may get a partial refund rather than a full one.

What if it dies in six months?

Email us with your order number and what happened. Genuine failures get sorted. What isn't covered is physical damage, cutting the strip, incorrect wiring, or running it outside its rated voltage.

Ordering

Why is it cheaper than the big brands?

Because you're not paying for a tool brand's distribution network or a middleman's markup. We sell one product, direct, and we don't run a retail chain. That's the whole difference.

Can I change or cancel my order?

Email us fast. We deliberately process quickly, so once an order is in fulfillment we can't pull it back. If it's already gone, the 30-day guarantee has you covered.

How do I actually talk to a human?

support@lumolux.store. A real person answers, usually inside 24 hours. No ticket-number maze.

Still got a question?

If it's not answered above, it's probably a good question. Email us and you'll get a straight answer from someone who's actually used the thing.
