What lumens tell you
Lumens describe how much visible light a lamp produces. A higher lumen number can help illuminate a larger or darker area, but brightness is only one part of choosing the right jobsite light. Coverage, shadows, mounting position, and the work you are doing all matter.
Match brightness to the work area
For a small repair area or close-up task, a focused light may be enough. For an attic, crawl space, framing area, basement rough-in, or work bay, wider coverage can make it easier to see the whole workspace instead of moving a narrow beam from one spot to the next.
Where 900 lumens can help
